TJAR — Onchain Fee Conversion

Applications that collect fees in many different tokens often want to receive that revenue in a single token. I built TJAR at Uniswap Labs to handle that conversion without each application having to run its own trading infrastructure.

TJAR builds on Uniswap’s protocol-fee contracts, making the same approach available to other applications. Fees collect in a contract called a Token Jar. Searchers can claim assets from the jar by paying a fixed amount of the application’s chosen token. They do so when the assets are worth more than the payment and transaction costs.

Each application chooses the payment token and amount. The proceeds can be directed to a treasury, a burn address, a bridge, or another destination.
